"May I say a big thank-you to Steve, Linda, Irene and the team for putting on the Oyster Awards - and it’s not just because we won one!
The difference between these and many other awards was that they were conducted so ethically. It appears that one set of judges did not know the results for the other categories, thereby allowing (if it has been the case) for a winner of one, to win another. Unlike other awards, there was no chance to ‘adjust’ the findings when each winner was suggested at some pre-event meeting.
Also, no sponsor was able to enter a category - superb! I always thought that this was totally wrong when a sponsor was short listed for an award, as it often meant that an amount of bias had to come into the equation.
The breakfast was, as usual, a really good event and all I need to do now is to concentrate on doing something with the business that allows us to be in the running for another award next year!
